Since University I believe that my confidence as a designer has grown significantly, even from first to second year. I did a wallpaper project in the first year and I discovered my love for hand -made wallpaper. It was my favourite project and I’d love to make more hand-made wallpaper within my next projects. I’d like to push the idea more bespoke and contemporary and look into hand stitched/ machine stitched wallpaper instead of just hand printed.
The current Orangebox project has allowed me to fall back in love with stitching. Since coming to university I haven’t stitched much at all, I have been concentrating on screen printing instead. I believe screen printing is one of my strengths and I have had good feedback saying its where I flourish, so from now on I want to combine stitch and screen printing. Orangebox has allowed me to play around with crossing over processes and I have enjoyed this project a lot, I’d like to develop these ideas into my major A4.
Throughout the future I would intent to keep the problems that Orangebox have introduced to me in mind as I would like to become a responsible graduate designer. I would also love to keep a relationship with Orangebox and potentially have an internship with them, as the possibilities with their waste fabric is endless, and realistically they don’t want it- its their waste. In contrast, I would also love to work with companies like Custhom as I love their ideas of machine stitched wallpaper.
